Woven in Gujarat, western India, from antique Mashru, the traditional silk-warp, cotton-weft cloth prized for its lustrous face and cool cotton hand. These pieces carry Kankani, the traditional micro-dot weave pattern most closely associated with Anjar, Kutch, in a vivid, electric turquoise finished with contrast fuchsia piping. Viewed up close, the tiny woven dots reveal the handloom's fine, deliberate patterning; from a distance, they read as a softly textured solid.

Two squares, sold as a set, for a matched pair flanking a sofa or a single graphic anchor on a daybed.

Q: Why is the turquoise in this collection so saturated compared to older, more muted antique textiles? A: Vivid, colorfast turquoise like this typically points to synthetic dyes that became standard across Gujarati weaving workshops from the 1930s onward, still hand-loomed with all the slubs and tension irregularities of pit-loom production, just dyed with more stable, saturated color than earlier vegetable dyes allowed.
