Antique African Kente Textiles
The Cloth of Kings: Royal Asante Kente
Kente Cloth is the most recognizable of all African textiles, but few have seen it in its true, antique form. Originating from the Asante (Ashanti) Kingdom of Ghana, these textiles were historically reserved for royalty and special ceremonies. Our collection focuses exclusively on Rare Heirlooms—vintage pieces that possess a softness, density, and history that modern reproductions simply cannot match.
Silk & Symbolism The highlight of our collection is the "Majestic Silk Masterpiece" series. Woven from threads of real silk and cotton, these large-scale tapestries feature complex, non-repeating geometric patterns where every color has a meaning—gold for status, green for renewal, and red for passion.
A Range of Rarities
-
The Vibrant Ceremonial: For a bold statement, explore our "Extraordinary Asante" tapestries, which feature the iconic bright blocks of orange, gold, and deep blue.
-
The Rare & Dark: We also carry unique Vintage Burgundy and Black Throws, which offer a moodier, more understated take on the traditional weaving technique.
A full-sized Antique Kente cloth is a significant work of art. We recommend displaying them as wall tapestries using a sturdy wooden rod. This allows the full "waterfall" effect of the woven strips to be appreciated as a focal point in a living room or entryway.
