Pair of Lakhpat Dotted Gujarati Mashru Pillows (Trade)

$285.00
| /

Woven in Gujarat, western India, from antique Mashru, the traditional silk-warp, cotton-weft cloth prized for its lustrous face and cool cotton hand. This pair stands apart from the rest of this run's black family, carrying Kankani, the traditional micro-dot weave pattern most closely associated with Anjar, Kutch, on a deep plum-black ground with a genuine warm, reddish cast rather than true charcoal, finished with contrast fuchsia piping. Viewed up close, the tiny woven dots reveal the handloom's fine, deliberate patterning.

Two squares, sold as a set, for a matched pair flanking a sofa or a single graphic anchor on a daybed.

Q: Is a plum-toned "black" a sign of fading or color loss on an antique piece? A: Not necessarily, a warm plum or reddish undertone in a dark dye base is often original to the dye recipe rather than a later fade, this pair's cast is visibly consistent and even, which points to original coloring rather than uneven sun damage.

**Please bear in mind that colors of products shown may vary slightly from their original color due to monitor display settings or photography studio
