A rare and harmonious pair of antique Burmese folk carvings, representing celestial attendants offering respect. Standing 21 inches tall, each figure is carved in a mirror-image stance of devotion, hands clasped in the Anjali Mudra. They wear the traditional Mandalay-style costume: soaring conical headdresses and elaborate tiered skirts that flare out at the hips. The original polychrome finish has weathered beautifully into a "shabby chic" palette of faded tea-rose pink, sky blue, and chalky white, creating a soft, romantic patina that speaks to their age and history. They are perfect for flanking a focal point—place one on either end of a mantelpiece with a large mirror in the center, or have them guard the sides of a sideboard.
