Known in the trade as a "Stickbox" due to its construction from vertical teak planks reinforced with heavy iron bands, it was originally designed to protect valuable grain or dowry textiles from pests and theft. This antique chest retains its original hand-forged iron hardware, including robust corner straps and a central hasp. It has been thoughtfully repurposed for modern use by stripping the finish to a raw, sun-bleached teak tone and raising it on turned wooden feet.
This oversized coffee table is the ultimate anchor for a spacious "Modern Organic" or "Coastal Farmhouse" living room. With a massive surface area, it solves the design challenge of filling the empty space between a large L-shaped sectional or two facing sofas.
