This antique Yoruba door from Nigeria is carved across a single wide plank, divided into four stacked narrative registers, each framed by hatched triangle borders and separated by a beaded rope-twist band. The scenes read as genre or ceremonial moments rather than a single repeating pattern: paired figures in exchange, a figure raising a bow overhead, a bent attendant scene, and a reclining figure being tended by another, each register composed with its own gestures and grouping. This kind of narrative register carving, telling a sequence of human scenes rather than abstract geometry, sets Yoruba doors apart within the wider West African door tradition. 
The reverse on this Antique African door is plain and heavily weathered, with a pale, sun-bleached patina and honest surface cracking, a marked contrast to the better-preserved carved face, and still fitted with its original large hand-forged iron pivot pin along the right edge. Condition throughout is consistent with genuine age and use rather than damage requiring repair. Given the density of the carved registers, this piece rewards close viewing as much as distance: hang or stand it where visitors can step in to read each scene individually.
