A tall, graceful baluster vase hand-painted in the rich, saturated palette Jaipur is known for: a deep rust-brown ground alive with delicate blue and white scrolling flowers, leaves and vines. A band of fine petal-shaped motifs rings the shoulder and again at the foot, and the flared rim is finished in a clean cream edge that frames the whole composition.

Every brushstroke is made by hand, so the pattern has the slight rhythm and variation that printed decoration never has. At 7" in diameter and 14" tall, it has real presence on a mantel, console or sideboard. Fill it with long branches or dried stems, or let the pattern speak for itself as a stand-alone accent.

Q: What is the Jaipur painting tradition behind this vase?
A: Jaipur is known for hand-painted ceramics decorated with flowing floral and vine patterns in blues, whites and warm earth tones. Each piece is painted freehand, which is why no two vases match exactly. This one came to us from Jaipur, and we describe it by that origin without attributing it to a specific workshop.

Q: Where does a 14-inch vase work best?
A: Its height suits spots with some vertical room, such as a mantel, a console against a wall, a sideboard or an entry table. The busy pattern pairs well with plain walls and simple branches, and it also looks good grouped with a couple of lower objects in similar warm tones.
