A masterpiece of tribal artistry, this chest hails from the Swat Valley region of Northern Pakistan. Crafted from dense, aromatic Himalayan Cedar, it features the region's signature deep-relief carving, blending floral motifs with ancient geometric symbols believed to offer protection. The chest is crowned with four distinctive architectural finials and a carved gallery rail. Interestingly, the "rounded hole" found on the top center offers a clue to its utilitarian past: this was likely a grain storage chest, where wheat or rice was poured into the top aperture. We recommend adding a glass top to make it the top fully usable.
This antique carved chest is destined to become a show-stopping bathroom vanity. it offers ample space for a vessel sink or drop-in basin. The existing hole in the top can often be widened or utilized for drain piping, making the conversion easier. Beyond the bath, its high gallery back makes it a dramatic bar cabinet for a living room or a clothing chest in a bedroom.
