Antique Dark Glazed Stoneware Jar

| /

A striking example of provincial utility ware, this antique stoneware jar is defined by its deep, dark iron glaze and four distinctive loop handles encircling the shoulder. Likely originating from East Asia, vessels like this were traditionally used to store oils, wine, or preserved vegetables. The glaze is not a flat black, but a rich, mottled espresso tone that catches the light subtly. Its "four-lug" design is a classic functional detail—originally used to secure a lid with twine—that now serves as a beautiful  feature.

The dark glaze on this Asian pot creates a stunning high-contrast backdrop for white florals or  it makes for a sophisticated, rustic holder for wooden spoons.
