Antique Carved Lotus Ceiling Panel Coffee Table (Trade)

A carved architectural ceiling panel in the traditional Indian manner, from Rajasthan, dating to the 1800s or earlier, now set into a low coffee table under a glass top. The lotus is cut in deep relief, petals layered outward from the center, and the surface carries the dark, worn patina that only generations of overhead life produce. Fragments of this kind are scarce, and few have survived with their carving this crisp.

The glass lets you read every ridge of the carving from above, and the table itself was built by our team: a base of reclaimed wood finished with decorative metal straps that echo the age of the panel. It sits at coffee table height in front of a sofa or between two chairs, and it becomes the first thing a guest studies.

Q: Why are carved ceiling panels like this hard to find?
A: Ceiling panels were part of a building, so most were lost when the structure was altered, demolished or rebuilt. Rajasthan examples that come out intact, with deep carving and honest age, appear only occasionally.

Q: How do I care for the glass top over the carving?
A: Wipe the glass with a soft cloth and a little glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, not the table. Lift the glass periodically and dust the carving with a soft brush so grit does not settle in the relief.
