Genuine antique age shows throughout: a substantial crack runs along the plank seam, with two smaller cracks at the upper right and lower edge, along with some warping across the panel's width and an unevenly aged, weathered finish consistent with decades of use. A: It's original construction, not damage or a repair. Dogon and Bamana granary and house doors from Mali were traditionally built from two or more planks lashed together with cord or joined with wood cleats, since a single wide, stable plank of the right hardwood wasn't always available. On a genuine antique example, that seam — along with the cord lashing still visible at the top — is a hallmark of the door's construction, not a flaw.
