A vibrant fragment of Rajasthan's heritage, this antique embroidered wedding shawl, or "odhni," whispers tales from the Thar Desert. Handcrafted in the Jaisalmer region, this unique piece is a testament to the artistry and traditions cherished by Indian communities. The base of the odhni is a beautiful example of handloom artistry. Two meticulously hand-stitched strips of brick-red wool cloth create a warm foundation for the embroidery. The surface is then adorned with intricate patterns, primarily rendered in white and yellow wool thread. Skilled artisans employed cross-stitch and satin-stitch techniques to create a visually stunning and timeless aesthetic.
