The Buddha's hands are in the enlightenment position, with the palms facing upward. The antique Chinese Buddha features intricate carved details, an ornate tight hair nest in a painted black finish. The necklace around the Buddha's neck is often made of prayer beads or other sacred objects and serves as a symbol of protection and spiritual guidance. It also shows wrinkles and foldings along the rope which was part of the Buddha's attire. This antique Chinese sculpture would have been placed in public temples, likely shown at a monastery altar. It shows age and discoloration in some areas but it’s in good structural condition.
