A signature staple of our Jali Collection, this 72-inch sideboard is a masterclass in architectural heritage and sustainable design. Hand-built from premium reclaimed teak, the timber carries the history of its previous life, offering a depth of character and structural stability that only aged wood can provide. This piece features four doors adorned with intricate, hand-carved geometric Jali work. The "see-through" nature of the lattice offers a sophisticated play of light and shadow while providing essential ventilation for any interior contents. The clean, linear frame is elevated by tapered feet, creating a contemporary silhouette that perfectly balances the traditional hand-carved panels. The Jali (latticed screen) is a cornerstone of Indo-Islamic architecture, originally designed to facilitate airflow while maintaining privacy in the historic Havelis of India. Executing these geometric patterns in solid reclaimed wood is a high-skill artisan craft that requires precision and patience. By repurposing vintage timber, we ensure this ancient architectural element finds a new, sustainable purpose in the modern home.
At six feet long, this sideboard is the ideal scale for a dining room buffet or a sophisticated media console. The geometric Jali work is particularly functional for electronics, as it allows for ventilation and remote-signal transparency while hiding visual clutter.
