Vintage Indian Teak Bajot Table (Trade)

A versatile piece of Indian vernacular furniture, this square Bajot carries the spirit of traditional village life. Crafted from solid teak, it stands on four sturdy, turned legs that finish in bulbous feet. The piece retains charming traces of its original polychrome paint—flashes of auspicious red and turmeric yellow—peeking through the distressed wood grain. The top surface has been scrubbed smooth over decades of use, creating a warm, neutral platform that contrasts beautifully with the painted details on the apron and legs. Use it on top of a large coffee table to elevate a plant or a sculpture, breaking up the flat plane. It also functions beautifully as a meditation altar in a quiet corner—just the right size for a Buddha statue, a candle, and incense.
