Weaving and basket making has had an important role in Chinese history and culture for thousands of years. In ancient China, baskets were used for a variety of practical everyday purposes, including agricultural tasks during harvest season and to store and transport grains and vegetables. This antique basket features a beautifully woven body with a bent bamboo carrying handle. This antique farmhouse basket shows a naturally oxidized patina showing discoloration and muted colors from so much time exposed to the elements. This lovely artifact will function as a towel holder, magazine holder or a rustic flower vase. This basket has a natural worn patina some dark staining and some loose weaves around the rim.
