Commanding and serene, The Lotus Well is the foundational anchor of our antique fountain collection. At 30 inches in length, this is the largest of our repurposed 19th-century sandstone basins. Hand-carved from a single, massive monolithic block, its high-walled silhouette and substantial depth create a sense of immovable permanence. This basin features our specialized "Zen" configuration: a high-efficiency internal pump paired with a single, hand-forged copper spigot positioned discreetly just below the water’s surface. This creates a low-profile, meditative ripple that continuously cleanses the water’s surface without the noise of a traditional splashing spout. The antique sandstone is exceptionally textured, featuring authentic mason's chisel marks that darken into a rich, storied patina when wet.
As an authentic 19th-century architectural artifact, this basin bears the marks of over a century of use. Because it was hand-carved from a single stone, the base is not perfectly flat; shims will be required during installation to ensure the basin is level and the water flow remains centered. These irregularities are the hallmarks of its primitive, hand-crafted origin. The grand scale of The Lotus Well makes it the perfect courtyard centerpiece or a focal point for a large Zen-inspired garden. It pairs beautifully with large-scale architectural plants like Sago Palms or Giant Agave. In a Desert Modern or Mediterranean landscape, it provides a much-needed cooling element that grounds the entire design.
This is an exceptionally heavy, solid sandstone artifact. It includes a custom internal pump and copper spigot. Maintenance Note: This piece has been professionally sealed; however, due to the naturally porous nature of sandstone, some water permeation may occur over time, further enhancing its aged character.
