Striking Antique Yali Architectural Corbel

$445.00
| /

A fragment of history salvaged from a temple car or haveli entrance, this architectural bracket features a dynamic carving of a Yali—a mythical leogryph or winged lion. Traditionally used as a structural support beneath a beam or eave, this figure is depicted rearing up with a stylized mane and wings, symbolizing power and protection. The wood has been stripped of any original polychrome paint, leaving a raw, sun-bleached teak texture that highlights the deep relief of the carving and the grain of the dense hardwood. This fragment is a piece of "sculptural history." Its substantial weight and flat back/sides make it an incredible heavy-duty bookend for a shelf of large art books.
