These lovely Malian mud cloths are hand-woven fabrics dyed with plant based indigo fermented mud and washed to reveal intricate designs. This dye technique is quite labor intensive and everything is done by hand. These cloths have an important traditional values in Malian cultures. In Mali the mud cloth is worn by hunters and brighter colored cloths were used for rituals.
