Originating in Mali, West Africa, this unique African textile boasts a fascinating story. Skilled artisans handcraft each piece using time-honored techniques. Locally-sourced cotton fabric is handwoven as the canvas, then adorned with natural dyes derived from fermented mud and leaves. These dyes create stunning geometric patterns, often featuring symbolic tribal shapes and motifs that hold deep cultural significance.  Striking geometric patterns in contrasting colors are then applied. In Malian culture, these contrasting colors often represent duality, balance, and harmony.

Add a touch of global fair with this African mudcloth, perfect for a variety of uses including bed throws, decorative wall hangings, or custom-made pillows. Please note this cloth is vintage and has wear according to its age, it may have stains, holes, blemishes or tears.
