19th century Sindh Saami Ralli quilt. These antique embroidered quilts were hand-made by gypsy women of the Sindh nomadic group of western India. These throws or tapestries are hand-embroidered using colored thread with intricate designs, the stitches are very close together in long parallel lines extending the length of the quilt. It is known that Saami's pattern and colors embrace the culture and traditions of the Sindh people. These Ralli blankets were made to be wedding gifts for daughters. This reversible quilt has multi-color hand-stitched designs with elegant prints on the reverse side.
