Rare African Carved Mortar & Pestle

A set of antique mortar and pestle from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria. Both elements carved from single logs of wood with a dark wax finish. This antique African kitchen mortar features carved breast on the body, which is a symbol of fertility. The long pestle has a face carved at the top end.
