19th Century Chinese Kang Altar Console

This original Kang table hails from Shanxi province and dates back to the late 19th century. Originally designed for placement on either side of the kang—a raised stone platform utilized as a bed in affluent Chinese households this Kang table has been raised and repurposed into a one-of-a-kind slim console. Retaining its original lacquer and paintwork, it stands as a functional work of art, showcasing exceptional Chinese craftsmanship.

Transformed into a petite altar table or slim console, this antique Kang console exemplifies extraordinary craftsmanship. The antique Chinese table has a pair of center door and four drawers, adding both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality to this unique and historic piece. Table is antique and show some wear, including cracks and loss of carved apron fragments.
