One panel runs vertical and shows a pavilion with two robed figures; the other runs horizontal with a row of figures. The pair reads as Chinese, likely Late Qing, and shares the warm red ground and gold highlights of its type.

The two panels are fixed to the grasscloth, not to each other, so they read as a composed pair inside a single frame. At 16 by 22 inches it suits a hallway, a bedroom wall or a bookcase wall. The humidity level in the room matters for carved and gilt work, so keep it in a stable indoor space.

Specifications

Era: Late Qing dynasty, roughly 19th to early 20th century (estimated)

Origin: China (likely)

Material: Carved wood panels with red and gilt finish, grasscloth ground, gilt wood shadow box frame

Size: 16"(W) x 2.5"(D) x 22"(H), overall framed

Color: Red and gold on natural grasscloth

Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, including minor wear to the gilt and finish. This is part of its character and historical value.

This framed antique gilt carving set measures 16 inches wide, 2.5 inches deep and 22 inches high overall. It pairs two carved red and gilt panels, likely Chinese and Late Qing, on grasscloth in a gilt shadow box frame.

Q: How are the two panels mounted?
A: Each panel is fixed to the grasscloth backing inside the shadow box, one above the other. The depth of the frame gives the carving room and creates shadow behind it.

Q: Is a humid room safe for a piece like this?
A: Avoid bathrooms, damp basements and walls with direct moisture. Carved wood and gilt do best in stable indoor humidity, away from heat sources and open windows.

**Please bear in mind that colors of products shown may vary slightly from their original color due to monitor display settings or photography studio

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0288/5256/files/decor-9554-lifestyle-visualization_ff3d2217-d9b4-4904-bde0-5641dbe820a6.png?v=1791592346
