A sensational find, this 19th century Buddhist monk carved statue from Burma is a works of art. It is are hand carved in wood with a gilded finish over a black lacquered base. It features beautiful facial expressions and stylized rope with jewel inserts. The statue represents "Maudgalyayana" an important Buddha disciple. The statue show wear, paint loss and cracks but are in good structural condition.
